Star forward Jalen Williams of the Oklahoma City Thunder has been diagnosed with a right hamstring strain and will not participate in Monday’s road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Thunder have yet to disclose the severity of Williams’ strain or provide a timeline for his recovery.
Williams, who was named an All-NBA player last season, sustained the injury in the second quarter of Saturday’s road defeat to the Miami Heat.
He had missed the initial 19 games of this season while recuperating from surgery on his right wrist, a procedure he postponed until after Oklahoma City’s championship bid.
In 24 games for the 35-8 Thunder, who currently lead the NBA with the best record, Williams has averaged 16.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists.
