Cleveland Browns safety Ronnie Hickman was attacked in a New York City hotel lobby early Monday morning, according to the team.
The Browns stated that Hickman, 24, was “treated for minor injuries at a local hospital after the incident, was later discharged, and is now resting at home with his family.”
There have been no arrests made, and the investigation is ongoing, as per a statement from the New York Police Department.
Authorities reported that they responded to a 911 call at 4:35 a.m. ET on Monday regarding an assault in a hotel lobby.
“Upon arrival, officers learned that four unidentified individuals assaulted a 24-year-old male following a verbal altercation,” police commented. “The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.”
Hickman, originally from New Jersey, just wrapped up his third season in the NFL. He started all 17 games for the Browns, achieving career highs in tackles (103), pass deflections (seven), and interceptions (two). He is an upcoming restricted free agent this offseason.
