A group of three American skaters will take to the ice on Tuesday during the women’s figure skating short program at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, and Isabeau Levito will face off against one another, aiming to secure a spot among the top 24 skaters who will qualify for the free skate scheduled for Thursday. NBC featured a video narrated by Taylor Swift, introducing “The Blade Angels: Three American showgirls on ice,” and highlighting the stories of each skater. Liu and Glenn have already clinched a gold medal at the Milan Cortina Games after Team USA triumphed in the figure skating team event.
The men’s big air medal round in freestyle skiing kicks off with American Mac Forehand in a strong position to win. Four years prior in Beijing, Forehand placed 11th in the same event, but he’s riding a wave of momentum after finishing first in the qualifying round.
Meanwhile, two American teenagers, 16-year-olds Jessica Perlmutter and Lily Dhawornvej, will compete in the women’s snowboard slopestyle, finishing 10th and 11th, respectively, in the qualifiers.
even if the U.S. men’s hockey team won’t be competing on Tuesday, having automatically advanced after going unbeaten in the group stage, their next opponent will be determined that day. The winner of the matchup between No. 7 Sweden and No. 10 Latvia will face the U.S. in the quarterfinals.
