The United States women’s hockey team is vying for gold on Thursday during the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The U.S. will compete against their long-time rivals, Canada, in the gold medal match. Since women’s hockey became an Olympic sport in 1998, only the U.S. and Canada have claimed gold medals. though Canada bested the U.S. for gold in Beijing four years prior, the Americans outperformed Canada, scoring 24-7 over four encounters in the 2025 Rivalry Series held in November and December.
Still, every game resets once the puck drops at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
The “Blade Angels” are once again on the ice for the free skating segment of women’s singles figure skating. Alysa Liu secured third place in the short program, positioning herself to potentially earn the first Olympic medal for an American in women’s figure skating in two decades. Isabeau Levito ended the short program in eighth, while Amber Glenn finished thirteenth.
