Third victim dies from injuries in Rhode Island rink shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A tragic shooting at a youth hockey game in Rhode Island last week has resulted in a third fatality, a grandfather whose daughter and grandson also lost their lives in the incident, authorities reported Wednesday.

Gerald Dorgan, who was in critical condition, succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by Pawtucket police.

Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien expressed his sorrow over the loss of another life due to the shooting.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and all those affected by this heartbreaking act of violence,” he stated.

The shooter has been identified as Robert Dorgan, 56, who reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities noted that he was also known as Roberta Esposito and Roberta Dorgano. Robert Dorgan’s ex-wife was Rhonda Dorgan, and their son was Aidan Dorgan.

Officials indicate that the shooter specifically targeted family members.

Rhonda Dorgan’s mother, Linda Dorgan, and a family friend, Thomas Geruso, sustained injuries during the incident.

Law enforcement has acknowledged the bravery of several individuals who intervened and promptly stopped the assault. At least three bystanders managed to restrain the shooter in the stands amid the chaos as the crowd fled around them.
