Seaview Launches TV Division, Headed by Former A24 Exec Jess Lubben

New York-based production company Seaview has launched a TV division, which will be run by former A24 exec Jess Lubben, Variety has learned. Also, as part of the news, Seaview has sealed a first-look deal with “Severance” production company Fifth Season.

Seaview began life focused on Broadway productions, before branching out into a growing film business. Now, as it aims to become a multi-platform entertainment shingle, Lubben has been tasked with overseeing development and production of scripted television projects. That includes a focus on working with theater artists who want to move into television, as well as established TV writers and creators.

“Jess is an extraordinary executive with exceptional taste and relationships across the television landscape,” said Seaview founder Greg Nobile in a statement.

Under the deal with Fifth Season, television projects developed by Seaview will be brought first to Fifth Season. Besides “Severance,” Fifth Season productions have included “His & Hers,” “Tokyo Vice,” “Killing Eve” and “The Night Manager.”

“Launching our TV division with her leadership – and in partnership with Fifth Season – is an exciting next chapter for Seaview as we continue building a home where artists can develop stories across stage and screen,” Nobile added.

As a senior executive in television for six years at A24, Lubben’s credits included the first season of HBO’s “Euphoria” and serving as a co-exec producer on Apple TV’s “Mr. Corman.” She was also an EP on Apple TV’s “Sunny” and the Amazon pilot “Lifted.” Prior to A24, she worked at Scott Free TV, which included working on CBS’ “The Good Wife,” Paramount+’s “The Good Fight,” Amazon’s “Man in the High Castle,” HBO Max’s “Raised By Wolves” and AMC’s “The Terror.

“I’ve loved and admired the company’s work for years, so I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Greg and the team at Seaview,” Lubben said in a statement. “I’m truly looking forward to engaging even more deeply with the company’s theater and film relationships and to telling urgent, moving stories in television alongside our wonderful partners at Fifth Season.”

Seaview previously launched a film division, led by Brad Becker-Parton, which has been behind the HBO feature “Reality,” Neon’s “Stress Positions” and the recent Sundance title “Union Country.” On Broadway, the company’s credits include “Stereophonic,” “Good Night and Good Luck,” “The Fear of 13” and more.
