Thaddea Graham, Amber Grappy and Laura Marcus Lead Short

Thaddea Graham (“Sex Education,” “Bad Sisters“), Amber Grappy (“One Day,” “Black Mirror”) and Laura Marcus (“Star Wars Andor,” “Bad Education”) have been announced as the stars “Bloodsuckers,” the debut short film written and directed by Rosie Brear, who has produced music videos for the likes of PJ Harvey, Blood Orange and Wet Leg. A teaser for the dark comedy thriller has also been unveiled.

“Bloodsuckers,” which filmed last year and whose soundtrack was created by queer icon Lynks, will now be submitted for film festivals throughout 2026 and has already received a shortlist nomination for the 1.4 awards.

The story follows Bliss (Graham), who is 26, lonely, and convinced she’s a vampire slayer. But when her housemate Molly (Laura Marcus) takes her relentless bullying a step too far, Bliss comes to the conclusion that perhaps the demons she’s been hunting have been under her roof the whole time.

“Written in lockdown, ‘Bloodsuckers’ is my love letter to London flatshares,” said Brear, a producer at London-based commercial and music video banner MrMr. “It’s a film about loneliness and finding your place in the world, however unconventional it may be.”

Graham is an award-nominated actress and writer who has also previously been seen in “After The Hunt” and “Jay Kelly,” amd will soon star alongside Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman in Apple TVs “Margot’s Got Money Troubles.” She was Graham was nominated for Best Actress at the RTS Awards 2025.

Marcus is an actress, model and filmmaker, who was awarded best writer at the BFI Future Film Festival for her short film “The Massive F*cking Bender.” Her credits also include “Silent Witness,” “The Serpent Queen” and “Star Wars: Andor” and she’ll soon be seen in the upcoming “The Hunger Games” prequel “Sunrise on the Reaping” and and as a series regular role in Netflix’s “Assassin’s Creed” live-action thriller.

Alongside “One Day” and “Black Mirror,” Grappy’s credits include HBO’s “The Baby” and two series of the BBC’s queer-focused show “Wreck.” In 2023 she was the lead in Olivier-Award winning play “Sleepova” and played Audrey in Ralph Fiennes’ production of “As You Like It” in 2025.

“Bloodsuckers” is written, directed and produced by Brear for MrMr, and produced by Katie Lambert for MrMr and Multitude Media CEO Will Wood for Method in Madness. Executive producers are Martha McGuirk, Nick Sadler, Kirsty Bell, Connor O’Hara, Wood and Jamie Gamache. Music is by Lynks while Rik Burnell (“The Jury: Murder Trial,” “Red Herring”) serves as director of photography. The film is a MrMr, Method in Madness, Lowkey and First Flights production.

“Bloodsuckers” won the First Flights scriptwriting grant and was supported by Kodak, Panavision, SHL, Final Cut  and Company 3. Through the grant, the film was awarded £5k as well as a donation from Kodak of 16mm stock to shoot on film.
