Adam Scott Auditioned for 'Hellraiser 6' Despite Being Killed Off

Adam Scott once attempted an unlikely return to the “Hellraiser” franchise, even after his character was killed off.

During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where he was promoting his latest project “Hokum,” Scott reflected on auditioning for 2002’s “Hellraiser: Hellseeker,” years after making his film debut in “Hellraiser: Bloodline.” In the earlier installment, Scott played Jacques, a servant who helps summon a demon before meeting a violent end.

At the time, Scott said, he was largely unfamiliar with the long-running horror series and simply eager for the opportunity. But when an audition for the sixth film came through, he was initially confused by the prospect of rejoining a franchise in which his character had already died.

“My agent sent me an audition for ‘Hellraiser 6,’ and I thought, ‘Wait a second… I was in ‘Hellraiser 4,’” Scott said. Still, needing the work, he decided to go ahead with the audition, thinking “screw it” and “maybe they won’t notice that I was in Hellraiser 4.”

That proved difficult in practice. Scott recalled sitting in the waiting room and spotting a producer from the earlier film nearby, prompting him to try to avoid being recognized. “I was kind of holding my papers up, thinking, ‘If he doesn’t see me and they think I’m good, maybe I’ll get it,’” he said.

He ultimately did not land the role.

Looking back, Scott has described his role in “Hellraiser: Bloodline” as a significant early break, even if the experience had its quirks — including arriving on set to find his chair labeled with the wrong name. Though the film itself underwent delays and extensive reshoots before its release, he said he was simply grateful to be working at the time.

“I remember just being excited because it was a real movie, and I didn’t care if it was shitty,” Scott said. “And it did end up being very, very shitty, but I was just happy to have a job.”
