OWINGS MILLS, Md. — On Friday, the Baltimore Ravens announced the hiring of their new offensive coordinator, Declan Doyle, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
At just 29 years old, Doyle matches the age of star quarterback Lamar Jackson, making him the youngest offensive playcaller in the NFL. even if he spent last season as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, he was not the one calling the plays—the head coach, Ben Johnson, handled that responsibility.
This represents a strategic decision by new Ravens head coach Jesse Minter, who decided to hire Doyle after their interview in Baltimore on Friday. Doyle has never served as an offensive playcaller and has only accumulated seven years of NFL coaching experience.
although this, Doyle is regarded as one of the most promising young offensive minds in the league. He played a significant role in elevating the Bears’ performance from the league’s worst offense in 2024 to the sixth-best in 2025. The team averaged 26 points per game last season, a significant leap from the 18.2 points they averaged in the previous year, which ranked 28th.
Before his tenure with the Bears, Doyle was the tight ends coach for the Denver Broncos from 2023 to 2024, and served as an offensive assistant for the New Orleans Saints from 2019 to 2022.
Doyle’s task will be to revitalize Jackson and the Ravens’ offense, which last season saw Jackson averaging 196.1 yards passing and recording 21 touchdown passes—both of which were his lowest figures since 2022.
When asked Thursday about his ideal offensive coordinator, Minter stated, “I’m looking for a connector and an innovator, and a scheme builder around the best player in the world.”
This marks Jackson’s fourth offensive coordinator as he enters his ninth NFL season. yet, Jackson has thrived in the past under new offensive leadership, having won NFL MVP titles following the last two coaching changes in Baltimore.
