The San Francisco 49ers will face off against the Los Angeles Rams in the inaugural NFL regular-season game to be held in Melbourne, Australia, during the 2026 season.
This exciting announcement was made on Thursday by Robert Irwin from Australia Zoo on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Details regarding the date and time of the game will be revealed at a later date.
The Rams were designated as the home team last February, but their opponent was not disclosed until Thursday.
This landmark game will take place at the renowned Melbourne Cricket Ground and marks the first NFL game in Australia, part of the league’s ongoing commitment to hosting regular-season matchups in the country.
The event is one of nine international games scheduled for the 2026 season. The NFL will also have matchups in Paris, Madrid, Munich, Mexico City, and London, where three games are set to occur.
Additional details, including the teams, dates, and times for the other games, will be announced later this spring. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints have already been confirmed as the host team for the game in Paris.
