Men’s college basketball Power Rankings: Can the top 5 survive the week?

The men’s college basketball Power Rankings have been relatively unchanged for weeks. Arizona has maintained an unbeaten season, UConn hasn’t lost since November 19, Michigan, despite a loss to Wisconsin on January 10, has not slipped below No. 3, and Duke’s last loss came on December 20. Illinois has recently joined the top five, owning a 12-game winning streak since December 13.

yet, a significant change may be on the horizon.

Before the next rankings release, four of the top five teams face challenges with road games against other top-25 teams.

Arizona will visit Kansas on Monday; UConn travels to St. John’s for a tough match-up on Friday; Duke heads to rival North Carolina for an ESPN College GameDay showdown on Saturday (6:30 p.m. ET, ESPN); and Illinois faces a key matchup at Michigan State on Saturday night. Don’t underestimate Michigan, which has a rivalry game against Ohio State on Sunday before the Super Bowl.

The BPI indicates that UConn and Illinois are underdogs, while Arizona is only favored by 1.9 points.

The top five could look very different next Thursday.
