The company that made its name with TV programs like “Mad Men,” “The Walking Dead,” Hell on Wheels” and “Breaking Bad” is breaking up with some of its old-school nomenclature.
AMC Networks is dropping the second half of its corporate moniker, and will re-title itself AMC Global Media, a reflection of the company’s growing focus on streaming media and international operations. The company reaches subscribers in more than 100 countries and territories around the world, with a presence in Iberia, Central Europe, the United Kingdom and Latin America.
The company announced the move in a filing Wednesday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
“Our new name reflects the ongoing transformation of our business into a global media and studio-driven company, with streaming out front as our leading source of domestic revenue,” said Kristin Dolan, the company’s CEO, in a statement. “AMC Global Media produces and curates high-quality content and distributes it to viewers around the world through a variety of platforms and partnerships.”
AMC’s title switch comes as its best-known business — entertainment-focused cable networks — are grappling with declines in subscribers and advertising revenue as consumers migrate en masse to streaming options. AMC said in February that its 2025 revenue from advertising fell 15%, to $477 million, while distributoion revenue dipped 13%, to $588 million. Revenue from streaming , however, rose 12%, to $677 million, largely in part due to price increases across its services — a sign that subscribers are willing to pay more for what they get on broadband outlets that include AMC+.
AMC isn’t the only media company seeking a closer association with all forms of distribution. A+E Global Media christened itself as such in March of last year, dropping “Networks” from its corporate name after decades of being associated best with cable networks like Lifetime, History and A&E.
AMC Global Media is focusing efforts on the launch of “The Audacity,” a new drama set in Silicon Valley. Other new series include “The Terror: Devil in Silver,” slated for AMC+, and “You’re Killing Me,” a series starring Brooke Shields, on Acorn TV. The third season of “The Vampire Lestat” debuts in June.
