Billy Joel’s Madison Square Garden concert special is getting a physical release.
“Billy Joel: The 100th: Live at Madison Square Garden — The Complete Concert” is now available for pre-order on Blu-ray, with the release set for May 29. The one-disc release is listed at $24.98 on Amazon, with a DVD edition also available for pre-order. The Blu-ray has a listed runtime of 2 hours and 29 minutes.
The release captures Joel’s 100th performance as part of his record-breaking Madison Square Garden residency, filmed on March 28, 2024. The concert, captured in 4K resolution, was directed by Paul Dugdale and produced by Enliven Entertainment.
The track list includes many of Joel’s most recognizable songs, including “My Life,” “Vienna,” “New York State of Mind,” “Only the Good Die Young,” “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,” “Piano Man,” “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” “Uptown Girl” and “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me.” The release also includes Sting-assisted performances of “Big Man on Mulberry Street” and “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic.” Several tracks are billed as previously unseen performances not included in the original 2024 broadcast.
The physical release arrives after a special run on CNN, which Variety reported drew 5.73 million viewers on its initial Sunday night broadcast.
The concert marked a milestone in Joel’s long-running relationship with Madison Square Garden. The singer ended his record-setting residency at the New York arena in July 2024, closing out an 150-show run that had made him one of the venue’s defining modern performers. For his final show on July 25, 2024, Joel brought out Axl Rose for an electric performance of “Highway to Hell.”
