Imogen Poots and John Reynolds are set for the lead role in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series “Sex Criminals.”
The series, which is based on the comic book of the same name, was originally announced in January with an eight-episode order. The official logline states, “Suze (Poots) is a normal girl with an extraordinary ability: when she has sex, she stops time. One night, she meets Jon (Reynolds)…who has the same gift. And so they do what any other sex having, time stopping couple would do: they rob banks.”
Poots is known for her roles in films such as “28 Weeks Later,” “The Chronology of Water,” “Need for Speed,” and “All of You.” She has also been in TV shows including the Prime Video series “Outer Range,” “I Know This Much Is True,” and “Roadies.”
She is repped by WME, Entertainment 360, B-Side, and Sloane Offer.
Reynolds is known for starring in shows like “Search Party” and Hulu’s “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” and for playing Officer Callahan in the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things.” His other TV credits include “Yellowjackets,” “Master of None,” and “Adults,” while he has been in films like “Oh, Hi!,” “Save Yourselves,” and “Horse Girl.”
He is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360 and Felker McGinnis & Ryan.
Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, and Tze Chun are co-creators, showrunners, and executive producers, with Nanjiani also set to appear onscreen in an undisclosed role. Gordon and Nanjiani are executive producing via Winter Coat Films along with Dani Melia. Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky — the creators of the comic book — are set to executive produce, as is Dani Gorin of LuckyChap. Louie Hayes of LuckyChap will produce. Amazon MGM Studios is behind the series, with LuckyChap under a first-look deal at the studio.
