Rachel Weisz and Leo Woodall embark on a steamy love affair in the trailer for Netflix’s “Vladimir,” a TV adaptation of Julia May Jonas’s novel of the same name.
The eight-episode series, out March 5, follows a professor whose world begins to unravel when she finds herself fixated on a charismatic and sexy new colleague.
Per the logline: “Seduction and obsession collide in ‘Vladimir’ — a provocative limited series brimming with forbidden desires, razor-sharp wit, and charismatic, unpredictable characters. As boundaries blur and secrets simmer, she’ll risk everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life.”
In the trailer, Weisz gawks at a shirtless Woodall, who “has a thing for crazy girls.” They get closer and closer until they’re entangled in a forbidden affair, but what is real and what is imagined? At one point, Weisz reaches out to touch Woodall and says, “Sorry, I just wanted to be sure you were here in the flesh.” “As opposed to what?” Woodall replies, and Weisz laughs: “Oh, in my dreams.”
Jonas is the writer, creator and executive producer of “Vladimir,” which also stars series regulars John Slattery, Ellen Robertson and Jessica Henwick. Additional casting includes Matt Walsh, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Tattiawna Jones and Louise Lambert.
Weisz also executive produces alongside Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg and Kira Carstensen (Merman), Jason Winer & Jon Radler (Small Dog Picture Company), Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. 20th Television is the studio.
