'The Echo Chamber' Starring Alicia Vikander Boarded by Paradise City

Paradise City Sales has boarded Andrea Pallaoro’s latest feature “The Echo Chamber” ahead of the Cannes Film Market, with UTA Independent Film Group co-repping the film for North America.

Starring Alicia Vikander alongside Luca Marinelli and Susan Sarandon, the project was penned by Bernardo Bertolucci alongside Ilaria Bernardini and Ludovica Rampoldi (“Primavera”).

Currently in post, “The Echo Chamber” is produced by Indigo Film with Rai Cinema for Italy, and Versus in association with O’Brother Distribution for Belgium. Paradise City Sales previously worked with Indigo on “Primavera” which sold to more than 70 territories worldwide. Described as a love story between Leo and Anne as they “chase each other—coming close, drifting apart, and searching for their way back,” the synopsis reads. “They cannot let go, nor break free. Through the rooms, Ava’s voice echoes across time, carrying to the surface what endures—and what can no longer be held back.”

Pallaoro’s debut feature “Medeas” screened on the Lido before winning multiple international awards, while “Hannah,” starring Charlotte Rampling, premiered in competition at Venice where Rampling won the Volpi Cup for best actress. The film later received a César nomination for best foreign film. His most recent feature, “Monica,” starring Trace Lysette and Patricia Clarkson, also competed for a Golden Lion at Venice.

The creative team also includes cinematographer Diego García (“Cemetery of Splendour,” “Nuestro Tiempo”), editor Paola Freddi (“Hannah,” “Monica”), production designer Gaspare De Pascali (“Primavera”) and costume designer Antonella Cannarozzi (“I Am Love”). The score is composed by Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Clément Ducol, known for “Emilia Pérez.”

Jeanne Loriotti, sales executive at Paradise City Sales, described “The Echo Chamber” as “a rare project that brings together a singular auteur vision, a high-profile international cast and a deeply emotional narrative.”

“Andrea Pallaoro reaches a new level of maturity, crafting a film that is both formally striking and profoundly moving,” Loriotti continued.

Indigo Film said, “This is the final work of Bernardo Bertolucci, who wrote the story and screenplay with Ilaria Bernardini and Ludovica Rampoldi. Andrea Pallaoro has made the film his own, interpreting it through the lens of his personal artistic vision and sensibility.”

“The Echo Chamber” is produced by Nicola Giuliano, Francesca Cima, Carlotta Calori and Viola Prestieri for Indigo Film, Paolo Del Brocco for Rai Cinema, and Jacques-Henri Bronckart and Tatjana Kozar for Versus. Backers include the Ministero della Cultura – Fund for the Development of Investments in Film and Audiovisual Works, Regione Lazio’s Lazio Cinema International Avviso Pubblico (PR FESR 2021-2027), and the Creative Europe MEDIA program of the European Union.
