“The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” has been renewed for a second season at NBC.
The series follows stars Tracy Morgan in the title role, a disgraced former football star who, per the official logline, “is on a mission to rehabilitate his image with the help of award-winning filmmaker Arthur Tobin (Daniel Radcliffe). to earn back the admiration of his fans and the respect of his family, Reggie will also have to confront the ghosts of his past.” Along with Morgan and Radcliffe, the cast includes Erika Alexander, Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall.
NBC debuted “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” directly after its telecast of an NFL playoff game on Jan. 18, with episodes releasing weekly until the Season 1 finale on April 13. The premiere has reached more than 14 million viewers to date and was the most-watched comedy telecast of the season. As a whole, “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” has the highest rating among adults age 18-49 of any new comedy series of the 2025-2026 broadcast season.
The series, which reunites Morgan with his former “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” co-star Tina Fey, was widely met with positive reviews and received a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety critic Alison Herman wrote that Morgan “finally gets a character equal to Tracy Jordan [from ’30 Rock’] in channeling his particular charisma.”
Fey’s frequent collaborators Robert Carlock and Sam Means co-created “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” and serve as co-showrunners, executive producing alongside Fey, Morgan, Eric Gurian and David Miner. Universal Television is the studio, producing the series along with Little Stranger, Inc., 3 Arts Entertainment, Bevel Gears, Means Ends Production and Streetlife Productions, Inc.
The renewal news comes ahead of NBCUniversal’s May 11 upfront presentation. Other renewed NBC series include “Happy’s Place,” “St. Denis Medical,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.” NBC canceled the comedy series “Stumble” and the drama “Brilliant Minds,” while “The Hunting Party” and the flagship “Law & Order” series remain on the bubble.
