The Indiana Pacers’ point guard, Tyrese Haliburton, has been diagnosed with shingles and will be sidelined for several weeks, according to coach Rick Carlisle on Sunday.
even if Haliburton has yet to play this season due to the torn Achilles he sustained in Game 7 of last year’s NBA Finals, he has been present on the bench during games.
“It’s quite painful,” Carlisle mentioned to reporters on Sunday, as reported by Sports Illustrated. “… He is expected to make a full recovery, but this developed in the past few days. He was joining us in D.C. and displayed some unusual symptoms before returning here. That’s the situation we’re dealing with. We certainly hope for his swift recovery. It’s a rare case and a special circumstance, but I’ve spoken with him a few times, and he remains optimistic, so he’ll pull through.”
Shingles, known for its painful rash, is triggered by the same virus that leads to chicken pox.
In Haliburton’s absence, the Pacers currently hold a record of 15-43 this season, marking the lowest standing in the Eastern Conference.
