Wasserman to sell agency, stay with LA28 Games amid Epstein ties

Casey Wasserman, the chair of the organizing committee for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, is putting his talent agency up for sale following the disclosure of emails exchanged between him and Ghislaine Maxwell.

The emails between Wasserman and Maxwell were uncovered during the release of recent government documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. even if Wasserman, who heads an agency representing some of the world’s top pop artists, has faced no accusations of misconduct.

These newly released files indicated that in 2003, he shared flirtatious messages with Maxwell, who would later be implicated in helping Epstein in the recruitment and sexual exploitation of his victims.

In a memo sent to staff on Friday evening, Wasserman indicated he has started the process of selling his company, as confirmed by a spokesperson who shared the memo with The Associated Press.

Wasserman’s memo expressed his belief that he has become a distraction to the company’s operations.

“During this time, Mike Watts will take over the day-to-day operations of the business while I focus entirely on ensuring Los Angeles hosts an Olympic Games in 2028 that reflects the excellence of this great city,” the memo read.

This memo followed a recent meeting of the LA28 board’s executive committee, which evaluated Wasserman’s association with Epstein’s files. The committee stated it, along with an external legal firm, reviewed Wasserman’s encounters with Epstein and Maxwell, with full cooperation from Wasserman.

“We concluded that Mr. Wasserman’s involvement with Epstein and Maxwell did not extend beyond what is already known publicly,” the committee stated, adding that they believe Wasserman should continue to lead LA28 and ensure a secure and successful Games.

Previously, Wasserman mentioned that he traveled to Africa on a humanitarian mission using Epstein’s private plane at the invitation of the Clinton Foundation in 2002. Communications between Wasserman and Maxwell included him saying, “I think of you all the time. So, what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?

His agency, also named Wasserman, has lost clients due to the emails involving Maxwell, including singer Chappell Roan and retired U.S. women’s soccer star Abby Wambach.

In his memo, Wasserman stated that his interactions with Maxwell and Epstein were minimal and expressed regret over the emails.

“It was many years before their illegal activities became known, and, in total, involved one humanitarian trip to Africa and a few emails that I genuinely regret sending. I am devastated that my brief interactions with them nearly a quarter-century ago have caused so much distress to you, this company, and its clients in recent days and weeks,” the memo concluded.
